Hovair Automotive – History
1985-Hovair Systems, Inc. was formed from the purchase of assets of Rolair Systems, Inc. of Ventura, CA (Rolair was a founder of the “air bearing” industry in the 1960”s). Original ownership of Hovair Systems, Inc. was by Hovair Systems, Ltd., an English company, and Bill Shannon. Over the years prior to 1995, Lewis Cabot assumed Hovair Systems, Ltd. ownership in the U.S. company in partnership with Bill Shannon. In 1995, Hovair Systems, Inc. became a Washington corporation (was CA) and Bill Shannon and Phocus Systems, ( a Seattle company) bought out Lewis Cabot so that they became 70% and 30% stockholders respectively. In November of 1996, 11 stockholders plus a 12th in April of 1997 bought 51% of Hovair Systems, Inc. On January 4, 2001, Bill Shannon, Jim Edwards, David Benham and Pat McDermott purchased the automotive product line from Hovair Systems Inc. The new company, “Hovair Automotive”, is currently manufacturing and engineering in a 30,000 square ft. facility located in Franklin, Indiana.
In August of 2006, Jim Edwards and David Benham became sole owners of Production Handling Systems DBA Hovair Automotive. Hovair Automotive is only one of four current product lines being engineered and built for customers around the world.
